creating elegant and timeless photography

I began my photography career 10 years ago when I first joined my high school yearbook class. I started documenting school events, my friends, sport and graduation photos, and I brought my camera to every cross country meet. I decided to pursue photography full-time and get my bachelors degree in photography from the University of La Verne in 2018. Photography is not just something you learn one day and become good at overnight, it takes years of practice, experimenting with light and different techniques to develop your sense of style and character through your work. Today my style is well-versed, I use my background in my undergrad to perform the precise technical approach to create clean and elegant photos. With my experience while working with different clients and learning their taste, I’ve been able to incorporate different light manipulations, color schemes, and artistic approaches to their galleries. Photography for me isn’t just a job, it’s my passion that I want to surround myself with every day of my life, and I take this opportunity very seriously.

If you go through the variety of galleries I have curated for clients, you will see that each gallery is completely unique with its colors and lighting, versus when shooting out of a studio. I shoot with the natural light that we are presented with on that day. I believe that when we are shooting at naturally beautiful locations, that these landscapes should not be manipulated or changed with their coloring.

About Cortney Mace

I am a witness to many peoples "most important days of their lives.” Whether this be a wedding, a proposal, or welcoming a baby into this world, many people trust me in capturing these once in a lifetime moments that they will forever have to look back on. So creating timeless and beautiful images that will age gracefully is just one of the important details that go into the day. But in order to capture these moments that look effortless it comes down to me contributing positively to the event to create a fun, comfortable and easy photoshoot that they can look back on. They not only cherish the photos but the actual memory of that day itself. I pride myself in knowing that I make my clients comfortable in front of the camera to where they can truly be themselves, it is truly a beautiful and intimate thing.

Before any photoshoot, I make sure to get to know my clients and discuss what their vision is for their photography. How they want to be portrayed, the mood of their shoot, location scouting, the purpose of the photos, and any examples they want to recreate in their own artistic way. I am instrumental in helping make my clients' vision come to life. So getting down to those little details is very important to ensure that when they look at my photos, they can feel as if the image they had in the head was pulled right out and presented to the world.

A lot more goes into photography than meets the eye, and I am here to guide my clients through a professional photoshoot that captures their true essence of who they are, the vision of their business or story that they want to tell the world, or document a moment that they never want to forget.
